The existence of a diet that can help avoid the development of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and vascular disease is being talked about more and more often.

It’s no wonder, because prevention of chronic diseases begins with proper nutrition.

It should not be just vegetables and fruits. There is an opinion that the degree of usefulness depends on the color of the products.

The Rainbow Diet is based on this principle. It is believed that substances in fruits of different colors differ in their beneficial properties.

The more varied the diet, the more different useful and necessary substances the body will be able to extract, Anna Khakimova, a therapist and rheumatologist at the Center for Molecular Diagnostics, told Gazeta.ru.

According to the expert, it is necessary to eat at least one fresh fruit or vegetable with every meal.

And the diet itself needs to be diversified with 2-3 types of vegetation.

Color of food

For example, red and pink fruits contain lycopene, which is good for heart health and also prevents the development of cancer.

Green fruits are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin. They have an anti-inflammatory effect and protect against diseases such as liver, skin and gastrointestinal cancer.

Blue and purple ones are rich in phenols, which minimize the risk of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and other inflammations.

Orange and yellow are rich in beta-carotene. These vegetables and fruits should be eaten to maintain vision, skin health, mucous membranes and strengthen the immune system.
