In recent years, a healthy lifestyle has become fashionable. Many people exercise and switch to healthy eating to improve their health and well-being.
But not everyone achieves the desired results, and the blame for this is not laziness, but banal ignorance: people simply do not know which products are truly healthy.
So today we'll talk about foods that only pretend to be healthy and explain why they should be excluded from your diet.
Muesli bars
Some muesli products are labeled as sugar-free. However, this does not mean that no sweetener was used in production. If you feel sweetness, the muesli probably contains prohibited ingredients. Sugar and fructose affect hormonal levels, so after eating several bars, you do not feel full. Thus, the benefits of such a product, which is often considered dietary, are absent, and the negative consequences can be significant.
Smoothie
Research conducted at the University of the Living Sciences in the US has shown that drinking a smoothie for breakfast with the same amount of calories as a regular meal leads to overeating later in the day. This is because when you drink a smoothie that you don’t have to chew, the signal of satiety is not sent to the brain, which causes the desire to eat more. Even if the smoothie contains a lot of calories, you will feel hungry again soon after.
Dried fruits
Some manufacturers pre-soak the fruit in sugar syrup and then dry it. This is done to extend the shelf life and improve the appearance of the product, as it becomes bright and shiny. But do not rely only on appearance, otherwise the idea of healthy nutrition will fail.
Vegetable chips
Potato chips are often considered unhealthy due to their high fat, fast carbohydrate, stabilizer, and flavoring content. Vegetable chips also contain these substances, so replacing potato chips with vegetable chips is not always the best solution.
Diet Coke
Diet Coke contains a large amount of sugar substitutes and helps to stimulate the appetite, and then “turns off the brakes” when a person starts to eat a lot of food after the drink.
