Scientists from Australia have described a diet that you should pay attention to if you want to not only lose weight, but also improve your cholesterol levels.
As experts noted, we are talking about a vegetarian diet. This type of nutrition is especially good for people with a high risk of cardiovascular diseases.
The authors reviewed 20 high-quality studies involving nearly 2,000 adults.
The volunteers suffered from various diseases.
They ate according to different standards. Some diets ranged from low-fat vegan (where animal products are excluded completely) to vegetarian diets, which include dairy and eggs.
As studies have shown, people who followed a vegetarian diet for six months or more were able not only to lose weight, but also to improve their cholesterol levels. However, there was no significant effect on blood pressure control.
Experts noted that the effect of this type of diet is “significant, albeit modest.”
