It often happens that an appetizing and attractive looking piece of lard, tempting you to try it, can disappoint you with the discrepancy between its taste and its appearance.
Perhaps you have also found yourself in a situation where you come across lard that is so tough that it is simply impossible to chew.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, advises not to throw such a piece in the trash, because the situation can be easily corrected.
One of the most reliable ways to save tough lard is to make lard from it.
To do this, you only need spices to taste and a microwave oven (you can do without it).
In the microwave
First, scrape the salt off a piece of hard lard, then roll it in pepper and other selected spices and lard it with garlic cloves.
Then place the lard in a container (a regular cup will do), pour half a glass of water into it and add the bay leaf. Put it in the microwave for 3 minutes at 700 W.
In a saucepan
The second method is even simpler. You just need to wash a hard piece of lard, put it in a saucepan, pour water and bring to a boil over the fire.
Boil for no more than 10 minutes, then cool the lard, pat it dry with paper towels and sprinkle with the selected spices.
