How to normalize your diet without stress

Leaving the “comfort zone” is always stressful for the body.

This statement also applies to changes in a person's diet and eating habits.

When you are stressed, the body’s level of the stress hormone cortisol increases, which regulates metabolism and is also responsible for good sleep, says Olga Leshan .

When cortisol levels rise, a person becomes irritable, suffers from insomnia, and also finds it more difficult to lose extra pounds.

As a rule, when normalizing nutrition, we try to limit ourselves in something, which causes stress. Such restrictions include the following.

1. In the first place is a categorical refusal of some products, for example, sweets, flour. If we forbid ourselves something, this will undoubtedly cause a protest from our subconscious.

Recommendation: do not forbid yourself to eat any specific products, especially since sweets or flour products are not contraindicated in small quantities. It is worth choosing quality products and listening to your feelings. Try to switch to conscious eating.

2. The second most common restriction is the diet, namely, not to eat after 6:00 pm. This statement is not substantiated by anything, especially in the modern pace of life.

Recommendation: you should not go to bed with a full stomach, but it is not recommended to go to bed hungry either, as you will not be able to fall asleep for a long time, which is also stressful for the body. It is recommended to have a light dinner about two hours before bedtime (the time of day does not matter), and before bedtime you can drink a soothing herbal decoction (if you have no contraindications).

In addition to reducing stress during the process of normalizing nutrition, the following can be recommended:

- try to diversify your diet, introduce new products into your diet at least once a week, choose fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, berries, herbs, fermented milk products in their natural form, try different options for their preparation;

- don't force yourself, for example, if you can't eat oatmeal, don't do it;

- serve your dishes beautifully, even if no one sees it, get aesthetic pleasure from eating;

- do your favorite hobbies, this will give two positive effects at once: you will get a charge of positive emotions, and you will not eat because of boredom.

So, I recommend not to get hung up on food, get more positive emotions, listen to your body, then you can easily bring your nutrition back to normal without stress.
