Sports nutritionist and nutritionist of the Gemotest laboratory Anton Brykin spoke about the daily diet of long-livers.
According to him, the Mediterranean diet is especially beneficial.
RT reports this.
What foods prolong life
The nutritionist noted that the benefits of the Mediterranean diet have long been proven.
It includes seafood (shrimp, squid, octopus) and fatty fish (salmon family).
Seafood and fatty fish contain a large amount of essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. Nuts and avocados are also a source of omega-3.
And from seaweed, the residents of this region get enough iodine and other microelements, ” Brykin added.
According to him, residents of Italy and Spain also eat a lot of fresh vegetables, fruits and greens, as well as freshly squeezed olive oil, which is rich in unsaturated fats.
This diet helps prevent cancer and atherosclerosis, the specialist said.
He noted that heart attacks and strokes due to atherosclerosis as a result of poor nutrition, stress and lack of physical activity remain the leading cause of death in the world.
Residents of the Mediterranean region have minimized these factors in their lives, the nutritionist noted.
He also spoke about the phenomenon of longevity in the mountainous regions of the Caucasus.
According to Brykin, this phenomenon is associated with the consumption of melt water.
To this we should add clean mountain air, a leisurely pace of life and a lot of physical activity, the specialist summed up.
