Avoiding offal will help maintain normal cholesterol levels.
It is also extremely important to drink enough water.
Nutritionist Tatyana Meshcheryakova spoke about this.
The expert revealed methods for preventing high cholesterol in an interview with the Izvestia publication.
How to normalize cholesterol levels
As the nutritionist explained, we only get 20% of the cholesterol circulating in the blood from food; the body synthesizes the remaining 80% itself.
If you don't drink enough water, cholesterol production is activated, so it is necessary to maintain a drinking regime.
“No less than 30 milliliters of clean drinking water per kilogram of weight daily,” Meshcheryakova specified.
Secondly, refusing to eat offal – liver, lungs and kidneys of animals and birds, pork and beef brains – will help normalize cholesterol levels.
You should also minimize your consumption of fatty dairy products, egg yolks, sausages, some seafood (shrimp, oysters, caviar), and confectionery products with trans fats.
Thirdly, it is necessary to consume sufficient quantities of foods that improve fat metabolism.
These are products with omega-3 PUFAs (fatty fish, flaxseed oil), as well as cereals and vegetables rich in fiber.
It is found in abundance in cabbage, pumpkin, beets, zucchini, turnips, whole grain bread, millet, coarse oatmeal, and pearl barley.
