Potatoes are not called the second bread for nothing. Many are ready to eat them every day without thinking about anything.
But nutritionists suggest thinking about it and making adjustments to your diet at least for the cold season.
Nutritionist Margarita Koroleva told the OSN publication in an interview why you should eat potatoes less often in winter.
What's wrong with potatoes
To avoid having to think about how to lose those extra pounds accumulated over the winter in the spring, you should reconsider your autumn-winter diet.
In general, there is no need to be afraid of potatoes; in autumn and winter, you should definitely not overindulge in dishes made from this vegetable.
Firstly, the longer the potatoes are stored, the more starch they contain.
Therefore, in winter, potato dishes become very high in calories, and the glycemic index of potatoes increases several times.
Secondly, the bulk of the nutrients are found in the skin of the vegetable.
After long storage it becomes rough and tough, so it has to be removed.
How often can you eat potatoes in winter
According to the nutritionist, there will be no harm if you eat potatoes no more than twice a week during the autumn-winter season.
It is best to cook it with vegetables. Potatoes do not go well with meat or fish.
