A good appetite can lead to obesity, and without it there is nothing to be happy about.
An alarming signal may be a refusal to eat breakfast and a lack of interest in food in the evening. Experts say that with such symptoms there is only one way - to the doctor, for help. Because lack of appetite may be associated not only with stress.
A healthy appetite is one of the most important signs of a properly functioning body. With an established diet, appetite appears at a certain time, and its disappearance can be an alarming sign, - dietician and nutritionist Ksenia Pustovaya told the Doctor Peter publication in an interview.
At the same time, the specialist draws attention to the fact that appetite may disappear completely (and this is anorexia), partially (hyporexia), or decrease.
In the latter case, the person is constantly hungry, but eats little food.
What are the reasons?
In addition to stress and the factors that accompany its occurrence, appetite may disappear or worsen:
- due to taking medications;
- sedentary lifestyle;
- exhaustion (mental and physical);
- when choosing a strict protein diet;
- due to age-related changes and diseases (internal organs, neurological and psychiatric), as well as the development of addictions (alcoholism, smoking and other excesses).
What to do
In such cases, in addition to the standard advice to consult a doctor, it is recommended to normalize your daily routine.
Physical exercise can help you take control of stressful situations and combat their consequences.
The diet should be balanced, the portions small, and the drinking regime active.
But if the symptoms persist for more than a month, then a visit to the doctor should not be postponed.
