By consuming energy drinks, every person wants to get a boost of strength and energy. But is it really that simple?
Doctor of the HappyDerm medical center Lyudmila Artyushkevich identified several rules for consuming energy drinks that should be followed.
Rules for using energy drinks
- Energy drinks should not be combined with alcohol. Energy drinks have a stimulating effect, while alcohol has a relaxing effect. Drinking them together can interfere with assessing the level of intoxication and lead to alcohol poisoning.
- Energy drinks should not be consumed within several hours before, after, or during exercise and should not be mixed with sports drinks.
- It is not recommended to drink carbonated drinks on an empty stomach, as this can cause gastritis.
- Energy drinks should not be mixed with coffee or tea. Excessive amounts of caffeine can put additional strain on the heart.
- You can't drink more than 2 cans a day. Ideally, don't drink them more than twice a month.
Energy drinks are contraindicated:
- pregnant and lactating women;
- children and teenagers;
- elderly people;
- people with cardiovascular diseases;
- for glaucoma;
- in case of increased excitability and sleep disorders;
- for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, such as gastritis, pancreatitis and stomach ulcers;
- if there is sensitivity to caffeine;
- people who have had seizures.
If symptoms caused by excessive consumption of energy drinks occur, you should immediately consult a doctor.
It is also worth paying attention to the feeling of dependence. If it appears, it is better to take measures immediately, because the consequences of excessive consumption of energy drinks can be critical.
