A group of researchers has once again proven that the state of the body depends on a person’s diet.
As it turns out, the healthiest diet is the Mediterranean diet. This type of diet involves including fruits, nuts, seafood and grains in the menu.
Not only do these foods have a positive effect on overall health, but the diet can also reduce the risk of developing dementia.
More details are available in the BMC Medicine publication.
As it turned out, doctors studied data from more than 60 thousand people.
They were observed for a decade.
The person's condition and diet were assessed.
During this period, 882 cases of dementia were recorded.
In addition, even if patients had a higher genetic risk, proper nutrition helped reduce the likelihood of developing the disease by 23 percent.
