If you do not want to buy powdered sugar with additives that some unscrupulous manufacturers include in its composition, you can try to prepare the necessary product yourself from regular sugar.

The easiest way to do this is in a coffee grinder, but, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, says, there are other ways.

Mortar and pestle

It is enough to pour 2 tablespoons of sugar into a mortar (one third of its volume) and work with a pestle for a couple of minutes to get the required amount of powdered sugar.

Please note: the mortar must have a large diameter. With a small container of up to 150 ml, the process will take a long time.

Rolling pin

Pour 0.5-1 cup of sugar into a bag, distribute it evenly inside and place on a cutting board.

After that, take a rolling pin and start to roll the bag with force, using rubbing movements from time to time. Finally, sift the resulting mass through a sieve to get rid of large pieces.

Spoon

This option is useful if you only need a little powdered sugar.

Place a tablespoon of sugar on a cutting board and rub it vigorously with a spoon until it becomes a dust.

For reference

Powdered sugar is finely ground crystals of white sugar no larger than 0.2 mm in size.
