Every child needs praise. Without it, the child will not see the results of his activity and will lose motivation.
At the same time, parents should not overdo it with comments like “Incredible!”, “That was amazing!” or “You were the best!”
Excessive praise can lead to dangerous consequences. Most likely, the baby's character will change for the worse.
There are two possible undesirable scenarios.
The first possible consequence
Parents who praise their child too often can make the child's self-esteem inflated.
After all, a child whose every action mom and dad admire begins to consider himself better than other children.
The boy or girl comes to the wrong conclusion that everything is great as it is. And that there is no need for self-improvement.
Such a child will refuse to accept criticism, correct mistakes and improve his skills.
The second possible consequence
Not all children who are frequently praised develop high self-esteem.
If we are talking about a modest and calm child, then he may react differently.
Most likely, such a child will not become arrogant, but will feel a huge responsibility.
The kid will think the following: “Since I have such a reputation, I have no right to disappoint anyone.”
Such a child will perceive every failure painfully. He will be afraid of "not living up to expectations."
Therefore, excessive praise is harmful to both extroverts and introverts, both proactive children and shy kids.
