Breastfeeding is a very important period: the diet of a nursing woman affects not only her health, but also the well-being of the baby.
The nursing mother's menu should be balanced. If questions arise regarding the lactation diet, they should be discussed with a pediatrician.
But one thing is certain: there are a number of foods that should be excluded from the diet when breastfeeding.
Chips and fast food
Such harmful products are very high in calories, but their nutritional value is almost zero - you should not expect them to be of any benefit to mother and baby.
Alcohol
Alcohol can harm the baby – isn’t this a reason to give it up for the entire lactation period?
Exotic fruits
Of the “exotic” foods, the mother is only allowed to eat bananas during the first six months of the baby’s life.
Thermally unprocessed products
Raw eggs, sushi and sashimi, steak tartare and others pose a potential danger.
For colic
If your newborn suffers from colic in the first months of life, try to exclude sour cream and mayonnaise, pickled and fatty foods, and grapes from your menu. The ban also applies to sweet carbonated drinks.
For rashes
If a rash has been noticed on the baby's delicate skin, it means that it is not yet time to eat citrus fruits and snack on strawberries and raspberries. It is also worth giving up red caviar, fish, seafood and smoked meats for a while.
