By including certain foods in your evening menu, you can significantly improve the quality of your sleep.
This was reported by candidate of medical sciences, gastroenterologist Ekaterina Kashukh.
She listed products with a sleeping effect in a conversation with Life.ru.
What foods help you fall asleep
As Kashukh explained, you can speed up falling asleep with the help of products containing the sleep hormone melatonin or substances that activate its production.
Natural sources of melatonin are bananas, cherries, cherry juice, strawberries, pomegranate, apricots, mint, broccoli, tomatoes, rice.
This substance is also found in eggs, nuts (especially walnuts and almonds), grapes and cabbage, the gastroenterologist added.
Secondly, products containing tryptophan, an amino acid necessary for the synthesis of melatonin, will help improve the quality of sleep.
Hard cheeses, yogurt, oatmeal, cottage cheese, milk, cocoa, and soy are rich in tryptophan.
In addition, you should include foods high in magnesium in your evening menu.
This microelement is found in abundance in sesame, sunflower seeds, and nuts (almonds, cashews).
50 g of cashews provide the body with 50% of the daily requirement for this mineral, the specialist noted.
Kashukh also advised drinking herbal teas before bed. Chamomile tea is especially useful.
