After sugar was declared harmful to health, many rushed to give it up or replace it with other sweeteners.
Of the natural sugar substitutes, honey is considered the healthiest. But can we say after this that tea with honey becomes healthier than with sugar?
Russian doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov answered this question on his Telegram channel.
According to the expert, there is no doubt about the benefits of natural honey.
However, there is one unpleasant moment. Honey or sugar is added to tea for one single purpose - to make the drink sweeter.
Despite the fact that honey, unlike sugar, initially contains a number of useful substances and vitamins, it cannot make hot tea healthier.
The fact is that by adding honey to tea, that is, heating it, a person makes the honey useless.
It is well known what happens to natural honey when heated.
Therefore, tea with honey added to it cannot be called healthy. It turns into the same sweet drink as if regular granulated sugar was added to it.
However, consuming honey in its pure form strengthens the immune system, helps normalize the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, and strengthens the heart and blood vessels.
