In Sweden, scientists conducted a study to find out how often one can visit a sauna without harming one’s health and good mood.

Until recently, Finnish experts claimed that the positive effect could only be maintained by going to the sauna occasionally.

The results of the work were published by the Medicalxpress portal.

Research by scientists

Previously, scientists concluded that visiting a sauna reduces the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases and protects against Alzheimer's disease.

The new study included a survey of 1,180 people aged 25 to 74 in northern Sweden.

Of this number, 641 people visited the sauna at least once a month.

What we managed to find out

Further analysis showed that those who enjoyed sauna procedures, compared to those who did not go to the sauna, were less likely to complain of high blood pressure, considered themselves happier, and did not complain of poor sleep.

They were also energetic people with better physical and mental health.

How many times can you go to the sauna

Previously, it was believed that to achieve noticeable benefits, one should visit the sauna 4 to 7 times a week.

But Swedish scientists have come to the conclusion that the optimal option is from one to four times a month.

It is this interval that makes people happy and improves their well-being.

More frequent visits – from 2 to 7 times a week – do not lead to improvement in mental and physical well-being in the long term.
