Nutritionist Anastasia Dubitskaya made an unexpected statement.

The specialist said that older people should reduce the amount of tomatoes in their diet. As the doctor noted, such vegetables can harm the body.

She spoke about this in more detail in a conversation with representatives of the publication “ Moscow 24 ”.

Tomatoes contain lectin, which prevents the normal absorption of vitamins and nutrients and damages the intestinal wall.

In addition, such vegetables can provoke irritable bowel syndrome, as well as colic and some other problems.

But you shouldn't give up tomatoes completely. They do contain useful antioxidants. Just don't overdo it.

It is enough to eat tomatoes just once a week.

In winter, however, you should be more careful with them; preference should still be given to seasonal vegetables.
