Losing excess weight is, frankly speaking, not an easy task – even when it (the weight, that is) is only a couple of kilograms.
One of the main dangers that awaits all those who want to lose weight is that they constantly fall into the so-called “healthy food traps”.
Take, for example, a smoothie – isn’t it a healthy and wholesome snack? But no way: this dish contains a large amount of fructose, which can increase blood sugar levels and provoke weight gain and even some diseases.
What other foods are considered good for weight loss, but are not? Here is a short list.
We won't argue - rice is low in fat, but it also has little fiber and protein. In addition, white rice has a high glycemic index - which means that it can cause a sharp jump in blood sugar levels. Therefore, it makes sense to take a closer look at its replacement - brown rice and quinoa, which are rich in dietary fiber and provide a long-lasting feeling of satiety.
The advantage is that such food contains a lot of fiber and protein. The disadvantage is an incredible amount of sugar. A sports bar can easily compete with a regular chocolate bar.
Those looking for healthy snack options should consider apples, nuts, and Greek yogurt.
Fresh fruit contains fiber, beneficial nutrients, and few calories, while dried fruit has more calories. The reason is that dried fruit contains significantly less water, so it is a concentrated source of fructose. So, as you put piece after piece in your mouth, you get more calories and sugar than from fresh fruit.
But don’t rush to give them up: just don’t overindulge in dried apricots, prunes, dried apples, and the like.
