The right combination of products is of great importance for the health of each person. We are what we eat, says the famous saying.

This is absolutely true, and if today the random mixing of all sorts of dishes passes without consequences, then later the seriousness of the problem will be felt by everyone.

We will look at combining one of the starchy carbohydrates - rice - with other products.

To properly combine starchy carbohydrate foods, we need to have some basic knowledge.

All whole grains are easy to digest and pair well with other foods, while refined starch foods like white rice do not pair well with animal proteins like meat, eggs and cheese.

An example of an unacceptable combination in one meal is the cereal in packages that are available in stores. They are often generously sprinkled with refined sugar and filled with pasteurized fresh milk. Children's stomachs often suffer from such an indigestible breakfast.

The process of digesting these carbohydrates begins in the oral cavity with the release of the enzyme alpha-amylase into the saliva.

Liquids and juices dilute the enzyme, and eventually fermentation occurs in the stomach. Therefore, any carbonated or other drinks, especially those with high sugar content, are not recommended.

Fruits are not suitable for dessert, immediately after eating rice. They require almost no digestion and therefore any other food interferes with them. Fruit will not be digested if eaten with rice.

Vegetables are the perfect partner for rice in any dish. They help in digestion by providing minerals and enzymes necessary for the process.

Good news for those who love unexpected food combinations is the 75% rule.

It states that to protect the digestive system without depriving yourself of the pleasure of eating, the rules must be followed 75%. The remaining 25% is left for poor choices and satisfying the natural need for pleasure from food.
