A person who wants to get rid of extra pounds should pay attention to diets that are rich in plant-based foods.

An experiment was conducted with the participation of more than 200 overweight volunteers.

Some of them followed a low-fat diet with plenty of grains, legumes, vegetables and fruits.

The other group, however, did not change their diet in any way.

After 16 weeks, the researchers were able to conclude that, on average, the weight of the participants in the first group decreased by 5.9 kg due to a decrease in visceral fat and subcutaneous fat, but not muscle mass.

As the analysis showed, it is necessary not only to include vegetables, fruits, legumes and whole grains in sufficient quantities in the diet.

In addition, you should minimize animal products, sweets, tea and coffee, refined oils and grains.

The corresponding publication was published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
