Sleeping on your stomach or side can lead to morning neck and back pain.
This was warned by Trisha Pasricha, a physician and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
The expert spoke about the impact of sleeping position on health on her page on the social network Instagram (banned in Russia, owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
As Pasricha explained, the most harmful thing is sleeping on your stomach.
In this position, the doctor explained, the neck is strongly turned to one side. As a result, by morning, pain occurs in different parts of the spine.
Also, morning pain in the neck and back can occur after sleeping on your side.
However, this can be avoided by bending your legs slightly and placing a pillow between your knees.
Secondly, lightly hug yourself with the arm you are lying on, the specialist advised.
Those who suffer from heartburn at night should sleep on their back or left side.
In these poses, Pasricha says, the stomach contents do not enter the esophagus.
Sleeping on the right side, the expert continued, also has its advantages.
This position opens the shortest path from the stomach to the small intestine and accelerates the absorption of drugs.
