How dangerous is it to eat mold on food: Not all types of mold can cause poisoning, but be careful

Many people cite the example of mold that remains on cheese – some people eat it and do not experience health problems.

But it is important to understand that mold comes in different forms – it is quite capable of causing poisoning or an allergic reaction.

Mold can also act as a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, E. coli, salmonella, listeria, and so on.

At least everyone understands that household mold should definitely not be eaten.

Is it possible to cut off mold from a product and then eat it?

It is not always worth doing this, since mold grows into the product and its growth often begins from the inside.

This rule is true for bread.

But the following foods can be saved: hard-rinded cheeses (Swiss, cheddar, and Parmesan), hard vegetables (carrots, cabbage, and bell peppers), and fruits with skins (mold on the outside).
