Scientists have proven that cats have a beneficial effect on humans – on their overall well-being, mood and longevity.
The researchers then focused on how cats specifically impact men's health.
Research shows that cats prolong the life of people, especially men.
Research on this topic was carried out in Edinburgh.
To participate in the experiment, scientists analyzed the health of 10 thousand volunteers. The age of the experiment participants was 40-85 years.
It turned out that having a cat in the house had a beneficial effect on men's health.
In particular, the risk of heart attacks and strokes in this case was reduced by 18-20% compared to men who did not have pets.
According to the experts, simply stroking a cat lowered blood pressure. The level of psychological stress also decreased.
Along with this, relaxation of blood vessels was observed, which is a protection against spasms.
At the same time, a cat’s purring in the 20-50 Hz range had a positive effect on the central nervous system and contributed to the production of the hormone of joy – serotonin.
Earlier we talked about how to properly punish kittens for misbehavior.
