The problem of insomnia is not new, and the case when a tired person cannot fall asleep for a long time is no exception.
According to scientists, many, if not all, face this problem. Research has found the causes and ways to combat insomnia.
Why can't I fall asleep?
The reason is conditioned arousal. In simple terms, in this case the brain stops perceiving the bed with a night's rest.
This happens when people read, work, or do other things that are not related to sleep and rest.
What to do
As the American Psychological Association found out, the problem can only be eliminated by changing habits, lifestyle and getting rid of irritants.
1. To do this, you need to change your settings and use your bed only for sleeping. That is, stop working on your bed, reading, watching movies, and so on.
2. You need to stop using the Internet and watching TV before going to bed.
3. If you are unable to fall asleep within 20 minutes, it would be better to get up and walk around the house/apartment a little, but just do not eat anything at night.
4. You can drink herbal teas or warm milk. Fresh cherry juice and banana smoothie promote healthy sleep.
5. You can practice breathing exercises, eye exercises, come up with a boring game or other monotonous “entertainment” for the brain.
Errors
1. If insomnia is a frequent occurrence, then you should not go to bed earlier than you are used to, for example, at 22:00. In fact, this is useless if a person does not feel sleepy.
2. Stick to a daily routine and don't try to look for advice on how to combat insomnia on forums.
3. Do not use alcohol as a sleeping pill - it makes sleep shallow. Also do not use sleeping pills without a doctor's prescription.
It is better to contact a specialist who will solve the problem without consequences for health.
