There are several behavioral changes that can help us understand that a person is experiencing anxiety.
Psychologist Marina Gogueva explained how to assess the level of anxiety.
This anxiety is already reaching such proportions that it can even develop into a state of panic.
What are these behavioral parameters?
The first thing to pay attention to is absent-mindedness. If a person has become less focused than usual, he forgets elementary things.
For example, did he lock the apartment or not, did he forget where he left his phone, did he forget what day of the week it is, what his colleague’s name is, did he forget to do something that he always does, on this day, at this time.
This may indicate anxiety, that a person’s internal tension is already quite high and it is becoming more and more difficult for him to concentrate and be collected, to focus his attention.
The second factor that can also tell us about anxiety is that a person is constantly in an overexcited state. That is, he is, as if, like a runner who is already standing at the start and waiting.
And here is a runner who has been waiting for this shot for a very long time, and he is unable to restrain himself, he tries to run when the shot has not yet happened. Now, when a person is in such an overexcited state, this also indicates anxiety.
It is difficult for a person to sit still, he needs to do something all the time. When he talks to someone, he rushes from side to side. If he sits, for example, at a meeting, he needs to twirl something in his hands, he can twiddle his pen.
That is, the person is in such a disinhibited state. It is very difficult for such people to fall asleep, even if they want to sleep. Because they are overexcited, they wake up early in the morning and they are immediately ready to start working.
It was as if their brains never fell asleep. The body simply switched off from fatigue at some point, but the brain continued to work.
And also, the consequence of this factor is that they do not feel rested and well-rested in the morning because they did not actually relax. They continued to be in this overexcited state.
They also often dream about work, work issues, or if it is related to some personal situation.
Some people have cases where this factor manifests itself exactly the opposite. They are constantly sleepy, constantly falling asleep, constantly wanting to sleep. They say: “I am like a sleepy fly.”
After they have slept, for example, for 10 hours, they do not feel rested and well-rested, they still continue to be in a sleepy state.
And another factor of anxiety is excessive motor activity. That is, a person, for example, constantly twitches. It seems that he is all. They say about such people: “that he is all on hinges.” This also speaks of his internal anxiety.
The next factor is catastrophizing. When such people reason about something, they reason in the sense that something will definitely happen. They prepare for the worst, they are pessimistic and suspicious.
Another factor is self-doubt, in principle self-doubt, that something won't work out, that they are doing the wrong thing. And such people also try to control everything too much.
