The myth about who values romantic relationships has been destroyed. It turns out, it's not for the ladies.

Men attach great importance to them (more than women).

Romance is more important to them than to the fair sex, according to research conducted by scientists from the US, Germany and the Netherlands.

According to the lead author of the study, Iris Waring (Humboldt University, Berlin), men are more willing to enter into serious relationships.

Among other things, such relationships “have a more positive impact on the well-being and health of men than women.”

Even the life expectancy of men is longer than that of women, depending on whether they are in a serious relationship, the scientist noted.

The researchers also concluded that men are significantly less likely to initiate breakups.

In most cases, the reason for the reluctance to break up is that men will later begin to feel lonely again.

In other words, the scientists state, men see the positive aspects of separation to a lesser extent than women.

Hence the following conclusion of the researchers: for men, permanent relationships are much more important from the point of view of psychological stability than for women.

Scientists explain this by several factors. One of the key ones was formulated by Waring.

Women tend to receive more emotional support from their social circle than men, she said.

Consequently, heterosexual men are more dependent on their regular partner to meet their emotional needs than heterosexual women, she noted.
