Gardeners and vegetable growers spend most of the summer season outdoors and at the same time maintain physical activity.

But without scientific research, this is nothing more than a theory, Korean scientists decided, and talked about the health benefits of gardening.

The research was carried out in three stages, and the results were published in HortTechnology.

Korean scientists have managed to prove that gardening has a positive effect on mental health and education.

At the first stage, experts analyzed existing developments.

An analysis was then conducted of the impact of gardening on the background of programming training for adolescents.

It turned out that working in the garden or in the beds reduced the stress received during educational workloads.

And the final stage was an assessment of therapeutic farming and its impact on mental health.

This time, more than 500 people of different age groups were involved in the survey.

Conclusions

Caring for plants, just like caring for animals, had a beneficial effect on brain function.

People enjoyed the smell of soil and plants. This helped them cope with stress and depression.

Farming was effective against anxiety and even lowered blood pressure. The effect was comparable to relaxation.

Moreover, the therapeutic effect of agriculture was most pronounced among older people.

In other words, farming stimulates all five human senses and increases human physical activity.
