Florists are well acquainted with this plant, but novice gardeners may hear about it for the first time.
We are talking about the African daisy, which in narrow circles is called osteospermum.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication BelNovosti, a scientist, agronomist and landscape designer, told us what you need to know about growing this unpretentious flower.
African chamomile
It is not difficult to sow and grow this flower. It is only important to determine the sowing time and prepare the soil.
When to sow
You can start at the end of February. The deadline is determined by climatic conditions, but on average it is the end of April.
No more than 60 days should pass from the moment of emergence to transplanting of seedlings.
Therefore, the sowing date must be chosen taking into account climatic conditions.
How to sow
Seeds require preparation before planting. The most popular of these is soaking in growth stimulants, after which the seed material must be dried.
You can buy ready-made soil, or you can mix peat and garden soil and add a loosening agent (vermiculite, perlite, sand).
After sowing, the containers are kept in a room with an air temperature of at least +23 degrees.
It is recommended to use phytolamps and cover the container with film.
If everything is done correctly, sprouts will appear in 8-10 days.
Water African chamomile seedlings moderately, otherwise high humidity will lead to the death of the sprouts.
