In order for your young seedlings planted in the fall to take root well and produce a harvest, you need to pay attention to some nuances when purchasing.

These tips will help protect your seedlings from frost in winter and give them time to take root.

Recommendations were shared by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.

According to the specialist, first we need to find out from which city these seedlings were delivered.

Trees brought from the southern part of the country may not survive the winter in the northern region, where winters are harsher.

It is worth examining the seedlings. The pear tree should be 100 cm high, and the apple tree 60 cm.

If the seedlings are of a different size, it is better to refuse them. There should be few branches on the trees. Many branches indicate that the tree is more than three years old.

Ask the seller where the seedlings for sale were brought from. If the numbers are from southern regions, such seedlings are not worth buying.

It should be remembered that young seedlings take root better, so it is worth choosing those that are not yet three years old.

The height should be up to 100 cm, the trunk thickness - 10 mm, and the roots 30 cm long. Good roots should not be cut off and dry.

Also pay attention to the trunk, there should be a scar from the grafting. Ungrafted trees do not yield a harvest.

You should not buy cheap seedlings. It is best to go to a special nursery and buy seedlings there. This way you will protect yourself from scammers and will be able to learn more about the trees you want to buy.
