After summer residents remove the cover from their rose bushes in the spring, it often turns out that the stems have turned black after wintering.

The main reason is improper care of the plant.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told whether it is possible to save blackened roses.

The stems of the plant may darken, even if the gardener has properly cared for the bush and selected the appropriate insulation. The main thing is to know how to save the plant.

What is the reason?

We are talking about a bush affected by a fungus - an infectious or ring burn.

This can happen to bushes that were not opened in time, were not looked after properly, or were planted in the wrong place.

Can it be saved?

1. Dark shoots need to be cut off, otherwise the disease can spread along the trunk.

2. After pruning, the bush is treated with an antifungal preparation and watered with growth stimulants.

The preparations are selected individually, taking into account all the characteristics of the variety.

3. After treatment, the bushes are dug in and watered until the buds open, and preventive treatment is also carried out throughout the season.

Only in this case can we expect that the fungus will not make itself known again in the new season.

Previously we talked about which plants can be grown together .
