Soil acidity greatly affects the yield of vegetables in the garden.
The pH parameter directly affects the well-being of garden and vegetable crops.
Unfortunately, when purchasing a plot of land, a summer resident does not always get the ideal soil option.
Let's see how the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti" and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh recommends changing the acidity of the soil.
How to measure soil acidity
Here are some methods.
- Folk method. You can determine acidity by weeds - if wood sorrel, chickweed, horsetail, plantain, white clover and sorrel grow on the site, then the soil is acidic.
- Indicators. Paper strips soaked in litmus – when immersed in soil they change colour.
- Specialized devices. There are pH meters that have a case with a screen.
- Laboratory analysis. This method provides the most accurate indicators of soil acidity.
In most cases, litmus paper readings are sufficient.
We have previously discussed the issue of changing the acidity index.
