None of the house plants deserve as much attention as seedlings of peppers, tomatoes or eggplants. However, summer residents treat other vegetables with no less trepidation.

But as for heat-loving nightshades, in harsh winter conditions they have to cope with a lack of sunlight.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, spoke about the signs of a lack of light for seedlings.

The main enemy of indoor seedlings is a lack of sunlight. Fortunately, this problem is not difficult to solve these days.

By providing additional light to the shoots, you can grow gorgeous seedlings. If you don’t miss the moment.

Signs of lack of light

You can observe during the first 2 weeks after the emergence of seedlings and until the leaves appear.

Typically, the stem of the sprouts becomes long and thin. The greenery becomes pale, the sprouts stretch out.

A weakened stem will not be able to support the mass of leaves.

It is also worth observing the plants after planting.

The leaves may become pale or yellow, and acquire a variegated color.

The sprout, again, may become thinner, the leaves will grow at a large distance from each other, they will be small, and the plant as a whole will be stunted in appearance.

If no action is taken, the seedlings will turn yellow and fall off.

What to do

Usually in such cases phytolamps come to the rescue.

Depending on the culture and age, they are turned on for 12-14 hours.

Under normal conditions, for additional lighting, the lamps are turned on for 3-4 hours in the morning and evening.
