It was only after an international group of scientists completed their research that it was possible to answer this question unambiguously.

Researchers at the International Crops Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics in India and the University of Reading in the UK recommend taking a closer look at millet.

The results of the work were published in the scientific journal Frontiers in Nutrition.

According to research conducted in 11 countries around the world, millet is a valuable cereal for patients with diabetes.

Benefits of millet

One glass of cereal contains 6 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber, calcium, magnesium, iron and phosphorus, as well as B vitamins and folic acid.

Eating millet porridge improves bowel function, relieves constipation, burns fat deposits, maintains the health of the heart, blood vessels, and nervous system, improves blood composition and increases insulin sensitivity.

Allergy to millet occurs in rare cases.

It is believed that it is healthier to cook millet porridge with milk in the morning to provide energy for the whole day.

And in the evening it is better to cook porridge in water - it will be less caloric.

Contraindications

1. Problems with the thyroid gland require limiting millet in the diet - it interferes with the absorption of iodine.

2. Gastrointestinal diseases (gastritis, ulcers, high stomach acidity) are contraindications for the consumption of millet porridge.

3. Excessive consumption of millet can cause constipation and other digestive problems.

4. Caution should also be exercised when consuming millet during pregnancy.
