Nutritionist lists popular foods that increase cancer risk

Ultra-processed foods, foods with added sugar and red meat harm your gut and increase your risk of developing dangerous diseases, including cancer.

Nutritionist and gastroenterologist Nuria Dianova warned about this.

She listed the dangerous products in a conversation with Moscow 24 .

What foods harm the intestines and lead to cancer

Firstly, ultra-processed food – snacks, fast food, convenience foods.

By disrupting the balance of gut microflora, ultra-processed foods increase the risk of developing inflammatory diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

Secondly, red meat. Processed meat is especially harmful – sausages, ham.

Eating such food increases the risk of developing colorectal cancer, Dianova warned.

In addition, intestinal microflora is suppressed by products with added sugar.

As the nutritionist explained, excessive sugar consumption provokes the growth of pathogenic and fungal flora.

Candidiasis of the intestines and other organs occurs, so dysbiosis is quite pronounced, the specialist noted.

According to her, to maintain gut health, it is important to eat enough fiber. Vegetables, greens, and fruits should make up half of your plate.

The expert also recommended consuming fermented milk products and sauerkraut.
