We are all familiar with the famous proverb: "Eat breakfast yourself, share lunch with a friend, give dinner to your enemy." Can we, based on this, consider breakfast the most important meal of the day?

According to a number of nutritionists, a balanced breakfast is important after sleep, since during the night our body spends a lot of energy to recover from a busy day.

It is unlikely that anyone would want to feel tired and sleepy just a few hours after waking up - here is the answer to the question of why the body needs to receive new food in the morning to expend energy.

There are other benefits to eating breakfast that may convince you not to skip the first meal of the day.

The Breakfast-Obesity Link

In a study that looked at health data from 50,000 people over seven years, researchers found that people who didn't skip breakfast had a lower BMI (body mass index) than those who ate lunch or dinner.

According to the authors of the study, the reason is that breakfast increases satiety and, accordingly, reduces calorie consumption and improves insulin sensitivity during subsequent meals.

To confirm this, another study was conducted - this time involving 52 obese women who were asked to join a 12-week weight loss program.

All of them consumed the same amount of calories, but half of the subjects ate breakfast and lost more pounds, while the other half did not.

It was concluded that it is not breakfast itself that makes you lose weight, but a change in your daily routine.

Modern nutritionists claim that the effect of breakfast on obesity is due to the fact that people who do not skip it, as a rule, adhere to a healthy lifestyle and follow a certain daily routine.
