A healthy lifestyle depends on our own desires, attitudes and motivation. Over time, it is becoming more and more popular, as people strive not only to live a full and active life, but also to prolong it as much as possible.
Doctor of the HappyDerm medical center Lyudmila Artyushkevich notes that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not a difficult task if you adhere to several basic principles.
One sport a day
You need to choose a sport that you like. It can be running, fitness, Nordic walking, training on exercise machines or swimming. It is recommended to alternate these types of activity during the week.
Two hours without using your phone before bed
Smartphone screens emit light that can damage your vision and cause insomnia by slowing down the production of the sleep hormone melatonin.
It is advisable to avoid using your phone for two hours before going to bed.
Three main meals and three snacks
Develop a regular meal schedule that includes three main meals and three snacks. The last meal should be no later than two hours before bedtime. Try to create a varied and balanced diet, do not rush and do not combine meals with other activities.
Time to rest
The best way to relax is to change your activity. Setting a daily routine will help you organize yourself. With a clear schedule, you will not sit up late at night, miss time for eating or exercising, and will not forget about the need for rest.
Five servings of fruits and vegetables
Vegetables, fruits and berries are an important source of vitamins, minerals and fibre. It is recommended to consume at least five different types and colours of food daily to provide the body with the maximum amount of nutrients.
6 minutes of meditation
Meditation will help you control your emotions, cope with stress, respond adequately to stimuli and see failures as a useful life experience.
Drink 7 glasses of water
An adult is recommended to drink about 7 glasses of liquid per day, including all drinks and liquid products. Proper water consumption creates optimal conditions for the body's metabolism.
8 hours of sleep
Healthy sleep restores strength and energy, renews the nervous system, strengthens the immune system and serves as a preventative measure against many diseases. Try to sleep at least 8 hours a night. If possible, add 40-50 minutes of daytime sleep.
9 thousand steps
Start small – instead of taking public transport, walk a few stops, skip the elevator. Ideally, do about 9,000 steps a day.
Don't rush into implementing all these habits at once. It's better to start gradually so that they become a natural part of your life without causing stress.
Let a healthy lifestyle become your way of life! Take care of yourself and be healthy for many years!
