Shashlik itself is far from the healthiest food product, but many people make this harm worse with accompanying products.
This article will discuss how not to harm yourself and what foods are dangerous to combine with shashlik.
Not only food, but also sauces and drinks consumed with shashlik can significantly spoil your well-being after a picnic or a friendly party, nutritionist Angelica Duval told Moscow 24 in an interview.
What should not be served with shashlik
First of all, the nutritionist recommends giving up the habit of eating shashlik with bread.
Secondly, it would not be much better to snack on already fatty meat, fish or poultry with equally fatty foods.
Therefore, it is also better to remove lard or fatty sauces, such as mayonnaise and other similar ones, from the table.
Thirdly, milkshakes and sweet alcohol are also best excluded from this meal. The same applies to any dairy products.
As for sweet alcohol and carbonated drinks, they can provoke fermentation with all the unpleasant consequences, such as belching and flatulence.
What to eat shashlik with
First of all, these are fresh vegetables and greens, and of these, it is worth focusing on tomatoes, which contain an abundance of acids that help break down meat.
Sauerkraut goes well with shashlik, and mustard and horseradish go well with sauces.
In terms of alcoholic beverages, if it is not possible to give it up completely, it is better to opt for dry wines or strong and unsweetened alcohol, such as pepper vodka, which stimulates digestion.
