Stewed cabbage is a tasty and nutritious dish that will compete with “classic” side dishes like potatoes, pasta or porridge.
This treat is also very easy to prepare, so it’s hard to imagine a better choice for your everyday menu.
Since cabbage is available at any time of year and is very inexpensive, you can stew it as often as you like without worrying about your budget.
To diversify the taste of the side dish, many housewives experiment with various additives.
Typically, meat, chicken or mushrooms are added to the main ingredients – cabbage, onions and carrots.
However, there are other, less familiar, but no less effective ways to improve the taste of this dish.
One of these secrets, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, told us, is the use of ordinary table vinegar.
Try pouring just one tablespoon of 9% vinegar into the cabbage, and you will feel that the dish has acquired a light and pleasant sourness, which will only emphasize the natural sweetness of the cabbage.
Vinegar should be added 20 minutes after the start of cooking.
If you want to add some spice to the dish, try adding ready-made mustard.
Again, you only need one spoon of mustard.
You can be sure that this combination will not leave your family indifferent.
