Even if you weren't a big fan of stewed cabbage before, give this dish a second chance.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, chef Yulia Arkhipova, spoke about additives that, firstly, improve the taste of stewed cabbage, and secondly, increase its nutritional value.

Smoked chicken or meat

It doesn't matter which option you choose: both meat and chicken should be chopped and added to the cabbage about 15 minutes before it's ready. As a result, the dish will acquire a smoked aroma and become more filling.

Canned beans

The beans should be transferred from the can to the dish in which you are stewing the cabbage, 10 minutes before the end of cooking. Such an addition will change the taste and texture of the cabbage for the better, and also enrich it with vegetable protein, vitamins and minerals.

Prunes

Stewed cabbage with prunes adds a light sweetness and an interesting flavor accent. The unusual additive should first be rinsed with hot water and soaked for half an hour. After that, the prunes are dried, chopped and added to the cabbage 10 minutes before it is ready.
