Many people know that a cast iron frying pan, if used properly, can last for decades.
However, such an impressive service life will be ensured only if you do not violate the rules of use.
For example, Yulia Arkhipova, an expert on cooking for the online publication BelNovosti, notes that not all types of food can be cooked.
What foods should not be cooked in a cast iron skillet?
Scrambled eggs and omelette
This fact will surprise many, but eggs can potentially ruin the condition of a cast iron skillet. The reason is simple: this product too often sticks to the surface of the cookware.
Any food that contains acids
You should not cook any dishes containing acidic elements in cast iron cookware. These include lemon juice, tomato paste and tomatoes themselves, wine and other ingredients.
Fish
In this case, the same situation occurs as with chicken eggs: the product often sticks to the cast iron, which can worsen its quality.
You should also avoid cooking seafood in a cast iron pan for the same reason.
