When buying eggs, many of us pay attention to their color. People say that an egg with a darker shade is more valuable, and it is not for nothing that their cost is higher.

There is an opinion that when preparing certain dishes it is better to use eggs of a certain color.

Should you really pay attention to color? Is there a difference between standard white and brown? Let's try to answer these questions.

Anyone who tries brown eggs finds their taste special. The yolk can be very brightly colored, and the shell can be quite strong. These qualities can be seen in both light and dark eggs. Color does not affect these and other characteristics of the egg.

The color of the shell depends on which hen produced a particular specimen. As a rule, white eggs are laid by birds with white feathers, and brown eggs are laid by hens with dark feathers.

However, there is also a discrepancy in this correspondence. These words should not be taken literally.

First of all, the quality of the egg depends on what the bird eats and the conditions it is kept in. The color of the yolk is also affected by the diet of the hens.

The strength of the shell depends on how young the hen was when the egg was laid. The younger the hen, the stronger it is.

Much also depends on the amount of nutrients that the bird receives. All together, this leads to a certain strength of the shell.

But why are brown eggs more expensive? Maybe someone is just speculating on a more interesting color? It all depends on the size of the chicken. Those that lay brown eggs are often larger in size. This means that more feed is needed to feed them.

In any case, the color of the eggs does not mean anything, and when making a purchase, you need to focus on the freshness of the product.

The most expensive option is home-grown eggs, as chickens feel more comfortable in a cozy environment than on a poultry farm, and there should be more nutrients in the egg. Therefore, the cost of home-grown eggs is always much higher.
