Let's imagine a situation: you bought your child a smartphone.
The child enjoys internet surfing, mobile games, and the process of creating photos and videos.
At the same time, for some reason the baby is not eager to use the gadget to answer your calls and messages.
In other words, your attempts to contact your son or daughter are not always successful.
When asked, “Why didn’t you pick up the phone?” the child returns home and answers, “I didn’t hear the ringing,” “I was busy,” etc.
Sometimes the answers turn out to be true. But in other cases, the child may simply be lying.
Don't rush to scold your baby. Talk to him first and figure out the reasons for his strange behavior.
Why a child may ignore calls from parents
Do not forget that your child may not hear the bell or may be busy (school lesson, conversations with peers, teachers, etc.)
Or maybe the gadget simply ran out of battery.
But it is possible that the child ignores parental calls because he believes that mom and dad are constantly “harassing” him.
Children need care from their parents, but they do not respond well to overprotection: they need partial freedom. Constant calls and messages irritate them.
How to properly communicate with a child on the phone
Don't call your son or daughter too often or write 100 messages a day.
Better to do it this way: first call once. No answer? Wait about a quarter of an hour. Still no result? Write a message: "We are worried about you. Please call back."
When your child does this, do not scold him or accuse him of ignoring or not wanting to talk. Ask your child if he or she needs any help.
In a calm home environment, talk to your child. Ask why he or she sometimes ignores calls. And try to avoid complaints and accusations. Perhaps your child will explain the situation: “I don’t like that you call me too often and distract me.”
Calmly explain to your child: “We are worried about you. Stay in touch. And we promise that we will not call you every 5 minutes and scold you. There will be a maximum of one call every few hours. But remember: if you do not answer within 15 minutes, we will call back or write a message. If you do not answer within an hour and do not return home during this time, we have every right to start looking for you and calling your friends.”
For reference
A telephone conversation is one of the types of oral speech using a telephone and communication means - an organization's internal network or a public telephone network, a switchboard or automatic telephone exchange, etc.
