In the modern world, where we have to live at very high speeds, parents would like their children to have the same pace: they ask the little ones to get ready faster, they insist that they are late, they constantly rush the little one.
But the process of a baby’s development cannot be compared to a race: it happens gradually, overcoming all the necessary stages.
At the age of 1.5-3 years, children's fine motor skills are not yet developed enough to easily and simply handle clothes, zippers and laces, while the desire for independence is very great.
In this regard, the question often arises: how to reconcile the child’s desire to dress independently and the parents’ limited time?
What not to do
In a hurry, parents become nervous and forget that they are dealing with a child - sometimes it even seems to them that their son or daughter is acting this way on purpose.
The main thing to remember in such a situation is that you cannot force a child to do something faster. Most likely, due to the pressure, he will begin to get distracted, nervous and confused, which will lead to an even greater decrease in the speed of his actions.
How to help your baby
Organize your daily routine to avoid impulsive decisions and allow enough time for leisurely preparation. Set your alarm for an earlier time, decide when you need to start getting ready, and add an extra 15 minutes to it.
If you feel that your child's pace is interfering with your plans, try to calm down, count to ten and take control of your emotions. Your baby is trying his best, support him and praise him for his diligence.
Do useful things near your child. You can organize shoes or clothes on a hanger. This will help your child feel calmer: just be there, but don’t “stand over their shoulder.”
And don't forget that if you constantly rush your child or do all the necessary "operations" for him, his skill development will slow down. Can't wait? Gently offer your help. It's better to help the baby get dressed than to quarrel and get irritated.
