Many parents call their children by nicknames rather than by their names.

“Doll”, “Sun”, “Bunny”... It turns out cute and loving.

But there is a problem: some nicknames seem funny and affectionate at first glance, but in fact they pose a huge danger to the child.

We are talking about any appeal that conceals some kind of shortcoming of the baby.

Dangerous nicknames for children

Never use nicknames for your child that reflect some flaw in the child.

A plump baby should not be called "chubby", "donut", "chubby" or "muffin".

Other nicknames that refer to a child’s external defects are also prohibited: “clubfoot,” “eared,” etc.

Such nicknames make a child feel insecure and unhappy, even if the child, at first glance, is not offended.

You shouldn't give your baby nicknames that mention his or her less than ideal character traits (for example, "sloth"). A child who gets used to such a nickname will start to consider his or her behavior normal and will not want to change.

Earlierwe told you how not to raise a “whiner” out of your child.
