Every adult who has become a parent is concerned with the question: why do children love sweets, baked goods, fast food and other unhealthy products so much?

It's worth starting with yourself: how do you feel about tasty but unhealthy food? Surely, it attracts you because it brings pleasure.

The same can be said about children who, due to their age, simply do not think about the benefits of certain products.

However, there are other reasons why fast food and soda seem tastier to children than a vegetable salad.

Different perception of taste

Children and adults perceive taste differently because a child's taste buds are not yet fully developed. Adults can distinguish between sweet, salty, sour, bitter and protein tastes, as well as their various shades.

A child feels only sweet and bitter, which is why many vegetables seem bitter to them. If a child refuses stewed cabbage, this is not a whim, but a reaction to an unpleasant taste. With age, a child's food preferences change.

Fear of the new

Children are often afraid to try new foods, perceiving them as a potential threat. This behavior is especially pronounced at the age of 2-3 years, when a child may agree to only a couple of specific foods, such as bread and pasta, refusing to eat anything else.

Advertising

The advertising industry often targets children by presenting not the most healthy products in bright and attractive packaging. After viewing such advertising, the child feels the desire to try the advertised product.
