Not only can children quarrel or argue with their parents, but parents also have the same rights and opportunities.

However, you need to keep your finger on the pulse so that a heated argument does not hit the self-esteem of a growing person. In fact, arguing with children can be productive.

Gazeta.Ru reports on how to argue and quarrel with a child correctly, citing psychotherapist and Gestalt therapist Sofya Efimenko.

How to quarrel with a child

1. Parents should not switch to discussing the person instead of the action during an argument.

By reproaching a child for mistakes made or for not understanding something, parents can hurt their self-esteem.

After such an argument, children may start doing exactly what they are being reproached for. Being rude if they are called rude, studying poorly or behaving poorly, and so on.

2. Parents should not raise their voices.

A stern voice puts children into a stupor, and they stop perceiving information, waiting for the anger to pass.

But the goal is not to frighten the child, but to solve the problem. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct the dispute calmly.

3. It is important to choose a form of communication. That is, not just speak calmly, but also stop blaming, demanding explanations, and lecturing.

Try discussing the situation while walking in a park or in another comfortable setting.

4. You need to be able to admit when you're wrong and make peace. The effect will be colossal, because the child will also know that it's okay to apologize.

The main thing to remember is that after an argument or quarrel, parents must remain the child’s protector.
