Little children often cry. Of course, at such moments parents have a hard time.
I want the baby to stop crying as soon as possible.
In an attempt to achieve the desired result, mothers and fathers use dangerous phrases.
It is better to remain silent and just hug a crying child than to say the following words:
"Stop crying!"
When parents use this phrase, it often results in the child crying even more.
In some cases, this is explained by the child’s feeling of guilt towards his mother and father.
In other cases, increased crying is associated with fear of angry parents.
And sometimes a child starts crying “out of spite,” because he is unhappy with the commanding tone used by loved ones.
"Get a grip on yourself!"
Oddly enough, this phrase almost never helps children calm down.
The reason is simple: the child is sure that his parents should help him, and not demand something from him.
"Nothing terrible happened!"
Never “devalue” your child’s emotions.
For you, there is nothing catastrophic in your child's minor failures. But your child is probably worried about losing a board game or getting his first "F".
