Do you believe that a handful of almonds can replace expensive creams?

TikTok blogger @GlowQueen with a million followers challenged the beauty industry: she replaced skin care with 5 tonsils a day.

After 30 days, her face was glowing, but her followers noticed something strange: not only her pimples had disappeared, but her eyebrows too.

“The phytic acid in almonds blocks the absorption of zinc,” trichologist James Collier explained on The Skin Podcast . So is it worth it?

A 2023 study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology confirmed that vitamin E in almonds increased collagen production by 25%, but 10% of study participants developed a rash.

Dermatologist Cynthia Bailey warned:

“Almonds are a common allergy trigger.

Even 5 nuts a day can cause dermatitis in sensitive people."

Reddit user NutLover88 described how the “almond experiment” ended with Quincke’s edema:

"I thought it was safe..."

But why does Victoria Beckham swear by almond milk? In an interview with Vogue, she said:

"This is my secret to youth."

Nutritionist Robin Youkilis reveals the catch:

“Victoria eats almonds only in activated form - soaked and dried nuts, which are easier to digest.”

Chef David Chang mocks trend on Ugly Delicious

"People are ready to chew nuts like squirrels, just to avoid paying for whey."

The controversy was sparked by a study published in the British Journal of Nutrition that found that those who ate almonds daily had higher levels of vitamin B2 in their blood, but an 8% increased risk of iron deficiency.

Fitness trainer Kate Hall suggested a compromise:

"Combine almonds with kiwi - vitamin C neutralizes phytic acid."

Her advice got 500,000 likes, but nutritionist Abby Langer was outraged: “It’s like treating a burn by setting your other hand on fire.”

So what to do? If you, like actress Meghan Markle , add almonds to your smoothie for glowing skin, choose blanched nuts.

Allure magazine recommends not exceeding 30g per day and avoiding salted versions.

But remember the words of the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates: "Everything is poison, and everything is medicine. Only the dose makes one another."
