Thirdly, alcohol, stress and salty foods can worsen hypertension.

Fourthly, gout may worsen. Exacerbation of joint problems is caused by the abuse of protein foods: meat, jellied meat, canned fish, seafood.

Alcohol can also trigger an exacerbation of gout. Champagne and wine are especially insidious in this regard.
